The district is situated between the beautiful Letchworth and Stony Brook State parks. There are two campuses; the Dalton Campus has one elementary (grades Prek-4), and the Nunda Campus has one middle school (grades 5-8) and one high school (grades 9-12). 

Position Overview:

Keshequa Central School is currently seeking a compassionate, student-centered Elementary School Counselor to join our PreK–4 team. The counselor will support the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral development of all students, while fostering a positive and inclusive school culture. This role provides direct services to students, consults with teachers and families, and contributes to a comprehensive counseling program aligned with district goals and New York State standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and small-group counseling to address academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs.

  • Design and deliver classroom lessons that support social-emotional learning, character development, and positive behavior.

  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to develop strategies that promote student success.

  • Support early intervention and prevention efforts, including crisis response and referrals to outside resources as needed.

  • Participate in student support team meetings, IEP/504 processes, and multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS).

  • Maintain accurate records, comply with confidentiality requirements, and uphold ethical standards of the counseling profession.

  • Engage in ongoing professional learning and contribute to a positive, collaborative school environment.

Job Qualifications

Qualifications: 

  1. Valid New York State Certification: School Counselor required

  2. The individual must have the ability to collaboratively work with colleagues, maintain accurate records and have a strong knowledge of outside resources available to support students

  3. The individual must have knowledge of behavior modification techniques and have strong interpersonal skills.

  4. Knowledge of Special Education principles, theories, testing, methods, etc. as well as proven methods of maximizing the educational experience of students with special needs

  5. Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans

  6. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students

  7. Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed

  8. Ability to organize and coordinate work

  9. Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents

  10. Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth

  11. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work

Experience: 

Experience as a School Counselor is preferred but not required.
