The district is situated between the beautiful Letchworth and Stony Brook State parks. There are two campuses, the Dalton Campus has one elementary (grades Prek-4), and the Nunda Campus has one middle school (grades 5-8) and one high school (grades 9-12). 

Position Overview:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Science Teacher to deliver engaging, inquiry-based science instruction to students. The ideal candidate will inspire curiosity, foster scientific thinking, and provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to understand the natural world and apply scientific concepts in real-life contexts. This position includes opportunities to collaborate with colleagues, integrate hands-on and project-based learning, and support STEM initiatives.

 


Responsibilities:

Science Instruction

  • Develop and implement dynamic, standards-aligned lessons that promote scientific literacy and inquiry across various science disciplines (e.g., Life Science, Earth Science, Physical Science, Chemistry, or Biology).

  • Foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment that encourages exploration, collaboration, and critical thinking.

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic needs of students.

  • Design and implement a variety of assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.

  • Utilize technology, lab experiences, and real-world applications to enrich instruction and engage learners.

Professional and Collaborative Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with grade-level and content-area colleagues to align curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices.

  • Maintain accurate and timely records of student performance and progress.

  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues to support academic and behavioral growth.

  • Participate actively in professional learning communities and professional development opportunities.

  • Stay informed of current best practices and developments in science education and STEM fields.
Job Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree

  • Valid New York State Certification in one or more of the following areas is required:
     

    • Childhood Education (Grades 1–6, N-6) 

    • Science Grades 5–9

    • Biology 7–12

    • Chemistry 7–12

    • Earth Science 7–12

    • Physics 7–12

    • General Science Extensions (where applicable)
       

  • Knowledge of New York State Science Learning Standards and the three-dimensional science framework.

  • Strong understanding of inquiry-based learning, hands-on lab experiences, and interdisciplinary STEM approaches.
