The district is situated between the beautiful Letchworth and Stony Brook State parks. There are two campuses; the Dalton Campus has one elementary (grades Prek-4), and the Nunda Campus has one middle school (grades 5-8) and one high school (grades 9-12). 

Position Overview:

Keshequa Central School is currently seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Special Education Teacher for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering a positive environment and contributing to the overall academic and social-emotional success of our students. You will collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and school leaders to develop comprehensive plans and strategies that enhance students' academic performance and social-emotional well-being.   

Responsibilities:

  • Under the general supervision of the Director of Special Education and Building Administrators, to meet the needs of students with special needs, in academics and interpersonal skills; documenting teaching and student progress/activities, outcomes; addressing students' specific needs; providing a safe and optimal learning environment.

  • Participates in SSTs and assists in developing Individual Educational Plans ("IEP") for students.

  • Assists students and teaching staff in implementing students' IEP's and behavior management plans.

  • Coordinates with administrators and other teaching staff members to ascertain individual student's abilities and needs.

  • Serves as a ready resource to students and parents to provide support that will lead each student to increased personal growth; serves as liaison between home and school.

  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and to learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research, and by maintaining professional relationships. 

  • Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping. 

  • Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.

 

 

Job Qualifications

Qualifications: 

1. Valid New York State Certification in Students with Disabilities (K-6) required.

2. Knowledge of Special Education principles, theories, testing, methods, etc. as well as proven methods of maximizing the educational experience of students with special needs.

3. Knowledge of differentiated instruction based upon student learning style.

4. Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.

5. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.

6. Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.

7. Ability to organize and coordinate work.

8. Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.

9. Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.

10. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Experience: 

Experience as a Special Education Teacher is preferred but not required.
